New Literacy & Numeracy Standards PD

We are hosting PD on the new standards and numeracy!

Due to relief shortages with various staff isolating in our schools, this day will be held on Saturday 28 May, 2022. The venue is Onslow College, Burma Road Johnsonville, Wellington. 

The PD will have three presentations, each taking up to 2 hours. The first will be on Numeracy and Mathematics by the MOE, and a numeracy workshop. The new Statistics Achievement Standards and new Mathematics Achievement Standards will be covered in the next two sessions.

Sessions overview 

Session 1: Numeracy and Mathematics by MOE 

An overall rationale and principles behind the Numeracy. The second part of Session 1 is a Numeracy workshop, investigating what the Senior Numeracy test looks like from a student’s perspective sitting the online test. A set of exemplar questions and how the marking/assessment criteria could look like will be shared. 

Session 2: New Statistics Achievement standards

There are two assessments. One IAS 1.1 will be explained with Teens exemplar task shared. Then another EAS 1.3 could be discussed (subject to confirmation). 

Session 3: New Mathematics Achievement standards

There are two assessment exemplars to be shared. One IAS 1.2 Waka ama exemplar will be discussed and then one external EAS 1.4 will be shared to shine a light as to where they are heading.
